Slow and steady finishes the race (without walking!) – Race: NYRR Manhattan Half, 01/24/2010

Today I ran the first of what I hope will be several half-marathon races this year. Given my training of late, which hasn’t really included runs longer than 6mi, my goal was just to finish feeling good. At some point during the race, while I was feeling good, Iupped the ante to make my goal “finish without walking.” Success! I kept a steady, slowish pace throughout the entire race, with its rolling hills, and didn’t have to stop to walk or get water at all (I had my fuel belt and the chill in the air reduced the need for water). I’m hoping this will kick off my training for the NYC Half, coming up on March 21.
