I ran my third NYC Half Marathon yesterday. On the whole, it was a good day and a good run. The weather was
perfect: sunny, cloudless, just under 60 degrees. I was able to pace myself very well over the first few miles and was feeling good. The Harlem Hills took a lot out of me, though, and I was feeling pretty low energy at that point. After about 9.5 miles, just before the turn onto the West Side Highway, I stopped for some Gatorade and was feeling pretty lightheaded. I decided, after Friday’s sick day, that it was best for me to take it easy, so I walked the next ~2.5 miles, fueling up and getting ready to run out the end. I felt good approaching the 12 mile marker and ran out the last mile well. Another year, another missed PR, but one of these days 🙂
